Senior Designer (AVP/Associate Creative Director)

Job description

Precision is an integrated strategy and communications firm advising companies and organizations at the intersection of policy, reputation, and public opinion. The firm combines senior bipartisan political and communications talent with proprietary data and AI platforms to develop and run integrated campaigns that help clients seize opportunities and solve their biggest challenges. Precision’s integrated model spans strategic communications, corporate advisory, public affairs, reputation management, crisis and litigation support, data and analytics, paid media, and creative. The firm is backed by a bipartisan, 50-State Network following its acquisition of Firehouse Strategies. ABRY Partners is a strategic investor in Precision. Position Overview Precision is seeking a Senior Designer with an exceptional command of layout, typography, presentations, and branding. You’ll be a hands-on designer first, with the ability to develop concepts collaboratively, establish visual direction, and guide other designers toward stronger work. The role spans rebrands, logos, campaigns, decks, and design for video. You’ll partner with creative directors and copywriters to develop ideas, then give those ideas a distinctive and coherent visual expression. You should be equally comfortable building an identity, designing a persuasive presentation, and carrying a campaign’s visual language across formats. Our clients bring us complex challenges at the intersection of technology, people, government, law, and politics. We’re looking for someone with interests and opinions beyond design—someone who asks good questions, engages with the subject, and brings an informed perspective to the work. You’ll own substantial design assignments, work closely with our creative directors, and help raise the quality of the team’s output by mentoring, delegating to, and reviewing the work of junior designers. The position can be based in either Washington, D.C. or New York, NY. What You’ll Do Lead hands-on design across brand identities, logos, integrated campaigns, presentations, and digital and print materials. Collaborate with creative directors and copywriters to develop concepts and translate them into strong visual directions. Build thoughtful identity systems that work across applications, with clear choices in typography, color, imagery, and composition. Design decks and presentations that make complex information understandable and give a story structure, emphasis, and momentum. Develop visual assets, style frames, and design direction in collaboration with video editors and producers. Carry a visual idea consistently across channels while adapting it to the needs of each format. Present work to internal creative leads, articulate your decisions, and use feedback to strengthen the result. Own projects from exploration through final production, maintaining a high standard of craft and attention to detail. Delegate assignments to junior designers, provide clear direction, and review their work at appropriate stages. Mentor other designers through specific, constructive feedback on both their thinking and execution. Manage multiple assignments, communicate progress, and identify when a project needs additional time, clarity, or support. What We’re Looking For 6+ years of relevant design experience. A portfolio demonstrating exceptional layout and typography, strong branding work, and well-crafted decks or presentations. The versatility to move between identity design, campaigns, presentations, and supporting design for video. Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to develop ideas in partnership with copywriters and creative directors. Art direction skills, including the ability to establish a visual approach and guide others in executing it. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma. Strong presentation design skills in Google Slides, with proficiency in PowerPoint. Experience mentoring designers, delegating assignments, and providing actionable creative feedback. Curiosity about the world beyond work and an ability to engage thoughtfully with complex issues. The independence to own substantial assignments and the collaborative judgment to know when to seek input. A bachelor’s degree, ideally in a creative field, is preferred but not required. How to Apply Submit an application online via Precision’s careers page and include your resume as well as a portfolio showing branding, campaign, and presentation work, with a brief explanation of your role in each project.
