Job description
As a **Senior Edge Compute & Backend Engineer**, you will join Cloudinary’s Delivery team, collaborating closely with both frontend and backend specialists. Your role involves driving feature development, maintaining core codebases, and managing our extensive multi-CDN delivery platform. Our team oversees the global-scale delivery of Cloudinary customer assets and the underlying software and infrastructure. This encompasses our edge platform and CDN infrastructure designed for high-performance delivery, alongside the backend services that power them. We are trusted by leading global brands to provide high-fidelity media via flexible transformations, ensuring minimal latency and optimized bandwidth. ### Key Responsibilities - Own end-to-end solutions, guiding projects from initial requirements through to production. - Act as a primary technical authority for delivery infrastructure for both internal teams and external partners. - Develop and sustain internal microservices essential to the delivery platform. - Integrate external services and partners while implementing custom in-house solutions. - Engage in the team’s knowledge-sharing initiatives and provide 2nd-tier support, including on-call rotations. - Resolve complex inquiries and technical questions from internal customers. ### Qualifications - At least 8 years of backend engineering experience or demonstrated exceptional talent. - Proven experience developing with major CDNs like Fastly, Cloudflare, Akamai, or CloudFront. - A self-driven, independent, and analytical mindset with deep technical knowledge. - A data-centric approach to development, utilizing data warehouse and monitoring tools for insights. ### Technical Profile - Proficiency in multiple languages, specifically Go, JavaScript, and VCL. - Practical experience with at least one major CDN provider, including development using VCL or JS. ### Bonus Skills - Background in distributed cloud-based architectures at high scale. - Significant experience integrating and developing with various major CDN providers. - Practical knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services). - Experience with Rust, Ruby on Rails, or DevOps-oriented infrastructure.
