What You'll Do Own the backend: design, build and maintain scalable services and RESTful APIs in C# and Core Build and maintain features in a modern React + TypeScript application: complex editable data grids, charts, and document-style editors Integrate with, and participate in developing, Python-based AI services Own application-level architecture — API contracts, module boundaries, data model — participate in solution-level design, and recording the decisions behind it as ADRs Design the data model and build against a relational database — schema design, ORM, migrations, query optimization and performance tuning Implement authentication, authorization and role-based access control using Microsoft Entra ID, JWT and OAuth2, including row-level data restrictions Build real-time and collaborative features using SignalR hubs Participate in CI/CD, containerization and deployment together with DevOps Break complex work into deliverable increments, estimate it credibly, and flag risk early Partner with the Project Manager and domain experts to shape and clarify requirements: surface the edge cases, challenge scope, and propose the cheaper version when there is one Write unit and integration tests, raise line and branch coverage on the code you own, and keep the CI quality gates — static analysis, linting, type checks — green Mentor engineers as the team grows — thorough code review, pairing, and setting the standards the codebase is held to What You Bring 5+ years of professional full-stack experience with a strong backend focus Strong professional experience with C# and Core Deep understanding of backend architecture — dependency injection, middleware, asynchronous programming, and the trade-offs between them Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs that other teams consume Strong experience with relational databases: database design, ORM (e.g. EF Core), query optimisation and performance tuning Experience with Microsoft Azure — compute, messaging, secrets management and managed identities Experience with SignalR, message brokers, or comparable messaging and real-time technologies Experience implementing authentication and authorization with JWT, OAuth2 and Microsoft Entra ID Solid working knowledge of React and TypeScript, and experience integrating frontends with backend APIs Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and shipping to production regularly Track record of owning a system end to end — design, build, deploy, operate — not only delivering assigned tickets Ability to make and defend architectural decisions with incomplete information, and to write them down Comfortable working in an existing codebase — reading unfamiliar code, deciding what to keep, and refactoring the rest safely Sound instincts on application security — you recognise an authorization gap or an unsafe default in review Good written and verbal communication in English, including with non-technical domain experts Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment — break down and estimate complex work, prioritise effectively, and raise risks early Nice to Have Python and FastAPI Experience integrating LLM or RAG services into production applications Experience building analytical, reporting, or business intelligence applications Experience with offline-first or occasionally-connected applications, and conflict resolution Experience working with large datasets, data visualisation, or time-series data Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Experience mentoring engineers or leading a small team Domain exposure to energy, oil & gas, or industrial/engineering software Our benefits include: Medical insurance (family coverage) Flexible working hours Wellness program Childcare support Company-provided lunch
