Senior Grid Connnection Engineer

Job description

**Today’s most tomorrow company.** We run the most powerful battery on the grid, the 850MW Waratah Super Battery, and getting the next ones connected is your job. We are leading the energy transition towards a better, brighter tomorrow. The work you will do makes a real and very tangible impact on the future of the planet and its people. We’re 200 people around the world with 40 GWh of projects moving through development across Australia, Japan, the US and Germany. We build, own, and operate our assets, we don’t hand a project to someone else once it’s approved. The people who design a battery site are the same people who build it and run it for the next twenty years. You’ll lead our connection applications end to end, from first enquiry through to registration, working closely with Commercial and Engineering to get the settings right from day one. **What you’ll do** - Lead the Connection Application process end to end, including Connection Enquiries, Generator Performance Standards, design and modelling packages, validation, Hold Point testing and registration submissions - Work with Business Developers and Engineering to optimise project designs, equipment selection and grid connection planning - Liaise directly with OEMs, external consultants and AEMO/NSPs, troubleshooting power system models and control system performance - Negotiate technical performance standards with AEMO and NSPs, balancing our long-term operation of the asset against regulatory requirements - Keep across new rules and regulations, and help shape our responses to proposed changes **How you’ll make a positive impact** - A degree in Electrical, Control or Power Systems Engineering - Hands-on experience in renewables or electrical engineering, ideally on utility-scale or power transmission projects - Solid knowledge of NEM grid connection processes and Australian engineering standards - Comfort with power system modelling tools like PSSE, PSCAD or PowerFactory **Why you’ll love working here** - Flexibility first: we're hybrid by design, averaging 60/40 office and home split, and real trust to flex that mix when life calls for it. - Room to look after yourself: $1,500 a year for your wellbeing, plus $2,000 and two extra days off for your own development. - Genuinely generous parental leave: because family isn’t something you fit around a job - A stake in what we build: on top of your salary and twice-yearly bonus, permanent team members also share in the value we create through our Long Term Incentive Plan. **Lead the energy transition with us. Apply now.** We believe diverse teams build better solutions for the planet and its people. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to do their best work, no matter their background, identity, or lived experience.
