# Senior Laytime Analyst > Marcura · Taguig, Philippines (Hybrid) · Full-time · Posted 2026-08-31 **Workplace:** hybrid **Department:** Laytime-Desk ## Description The Senior Laytime Analyst is a pivotal role within the Marcura Claims and can develop along two complementary paths depending on individual strengths and organisational needs. In both paths, the Senior Analyst carries greater responsibility than the Laytime Analyst grade and is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, professional judgement, and accountability. The first path is a continued specialist track, where the Senior Analyst manages a caseload of standard to moderately complex cases — similar in nature to the Laytime Analyst grade — but takes on expanded responsibility within the team. This includes acting as a quality control reference point for junior colleagues, taking greater ownership of process adherence, and being entrusted with a degree of autonomous authority in managing day-to-day operational matters. The second path introduces a limited client-facing dimension. Senior Analysts on this track may engage directly with customers on routine day-to-day matters — responding to straightforward queries, providing status updates, or handling standard operational communications. This is not full client relationship ownership; formal negotiations, disputes, and escalations remain the responsibility of more senior grades. Customer contact at this level is operational in nature and takes place within clearly defined boundaries. In both paths, the Senior Laytime Analyst is an important contributor to team quality, serves as a development resource for junior staff, and is expected to demonstrate the maturity and consistency that will support further progression into a management track. Responsibilities: - Manage an independent caseload of standard to moderately complex Laytime and Demurrage calculations with full personal accountability for accuracy, completeness, and on-time submission within applicable time-bar deadlines. - Act as a quality control resource for the outputs of Junior and mid-level Analysts — reviewing calculations, identifying errors or inconsistencies, and providing clear, constructive feedback that supports the development of those team members. - Serve as a first-level escalation point for technical queries from junior colleagues, guiding them through ambiguous Charterparty provisions or unfamiliar calculation scenarios without taking over their work unless necessary. - Where applicable (customer-facing path): engage directly with customers on routine day-to-day operational matters, including status updates, straightforward queries, and standard correspondence — operating within agreed communication protocols and escalating anything beyond routine scope to the Section Manager or Associate Sector Manager. - Where not in a customer-facing capacity: support the Section Manager or Associate Sector Manager in ensuring day-to-day operational matters are handled in their absence, maintaining continuity of service and team output. - Contribute to the ongoing development of Marcura Claims procedures, calculation standards, and knowledge resources, drawing on case experience to identify areas for improvement. - Monitor own time-bar adherence and flag any systemic documentation or process risks to the Team Leader proactively, rather than waiting for issues to escalate. - Demonstrate the qualities — technical depth, professional judgement, team awareness, and client readiness — that support progression into a management role. ## Requirements - A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, Law, or Finance. - Professional development in Laytime, Demurrage, or shipping law (e.g., FONASBA, BIMCO, or equivalent) is strongly desirable. - Alternatively, a successful tenure as a Laytime Analyst, where sustained high performance, technical expertise, and contribution to team quality justify promotion to Senior level. - Expert-level knowledge of voyage and time Charterparties, complex Laytime clauses, reversible/irreversible calculations, and Demurrage dispute resolution practices. - Advanced analytical ability — capable of identifying contractual weaknesses, building defensible positions, and preparing clear written arguments for dispute resolution. - In-depth understanding of terminal operations, marine operational terminology, and the commercial context of petroleum and dry commodity shipping. - Proficiency across Laytime systems, document management platforms, and MS Office; able to assess and recommend digital improvements. - Strong written and spoken English, including the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence to clients and counterparties. - A minimum of 4 years of experience in Laytime and Demurrage, with a proven track record of independently managing a full caseload of complex calculations. - Demonstrable experience handling Demurrage disputes, including the preparation of supporting arguments and correspondence with counterparties. - Prior experience mentoring or coaching junior analysts in a formal or informal capacity. - Experience working across multiple commodity types (crude oil, petroleum products, dry bulk) is advantageous. - Remote working experience in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment is expected. ## Benefits - Competitive Salary and Bonus: We reward your expertise and contributions. - Inclusive Onboarding Experience: Our onboarding program is designed to set you up for success right from day one. - Marcura Wellness Zone: We value your work-life balance and well-being. - Global Opportunities: Be part of an ambitious, expanding company with a local touch. - Diverse, Supportive Work Culture: We’re committed to inclusion, diversity, and a sense of belonging for all team members. ## Apply [Apply at Marcura](https://apply.workable.com/marcura/j/50E10A762F/apply) --- Powered by [Workable](https://www.workable.com)
