Job description
Job Description & Summary As a Senior Manager, Strategy & in the Financial Services domain, you will lead high-impact strategic engagements with clients in banking, insurance, fintech, or related sectors. You will own full project life cycle - from diagnosis, strategy formulation, to execution planning - and help clients transform their organization, operations, and business models for sustainable growth. You will operate at the intersection of business, operations, and technology, working with senior executives, multi-disciplinary teams, and external stakeholders. You will also contribute to practice development by building intellectual capital, supporting business development, and coaching junior team members. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage multiple client engagements in the financial services sector (and internal strategic initiatives), from scoping through delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs, agenda progression, and stakeholder alignment. • Diagnose client challenges using structured problem-solving, quantitative analysis, market research, benchmarking, and executive interviews. • Develop strategic options (e.g. growth strategies, new business models, digital/technology-enabled innovation) and translate them into actionable, implementable roadmaps. • Support execution planning, including design of operating models, organizational structure, processes, metrics, capability building, change management, and tracking of value capture. • Serve as a trusted adviser to senior clients, helping them navigate ambiguity, tradeoffs, and risks. • Manage client relationships- lead meetings, present to executive audiences, steer decision-making, and maintain high client satisfaction. • At times, drive hands-on work (financial modeling, analytics, business cases, dashboards, implementation oversight). • Lead and coach a team of consultants/analysts: set feedback loops, guide technical and soft skills development, and ensure quality of deliverables. • Contribute to business development: market mapping, proposal development, client pitches, and capturing follow-on work. • Build the firm’s (or unit’s) knowledge infrastructure: develop tools, frameworks, case studies, thought leadership, and internal capability. • Participate in recruitment, training, and peer learning within the Strategy & practice. Qualifications & Skills • MBA, advanced degree, or equivalent experience (e.g. in finance, business, economics, engineering). • Typically 8+ years of professional experience in management consulting (especially strategy) or comparable strategic roles in financial services, fintech, or financial institutions. • Deep domain knowledge in at least one financial services vertical (banking, insurance, payments, fintech) and demonstrable track record of leading strategic initiatives in that space. • Strong analytical and quantitative skills: proficiency with financial modeling, valuation, metrics, KPIs, data analysis, scenario planning. • Excellent problem structuring, synthesis, and insight generation. • Experience in digital, technology, transformation, or process redesign in financial services is a plus. • Proven ability to lead multisector or cross-functional teams, coordinate workstreams, manage ambiguity, and deliver under tight timelines. • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills; ability to influence senior executives. • Coaching and mentoring experience. • Business development skills and a proactive mindset for opportunity spotting. • Willingness to travel (if client-based role). • Fluency in English, Russian. Uzbek language is plus.
