Job description

Cambridge, UK | Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid Salary: £75,000 to £95,000, DOE **About us** Riverlane’s mission is to master quantum error correction (QEC) and unlock a new age of human progress. From advances in material and climate science, to complex chemistry simulation for new drug design, quantum computers will help humanity solve some of its most important challenges. But without QEC, the industry’s defining technical challenge, such breakthroughs can never be achieved. Riverlane is the world leader in QEC technology. QEC is a complex problem that requires a range of skills, talent and passion. Having raised more than $125M in funding to date to accelerate our cutting-edge R&D in quantum error correction (QEC), Riverlane partners with many of the world’s leading quantum hardware providers and government agencies to make fault-tolerant quantum computing a reality. We’re making remarkable progress and growing fast.  **About the role** We are looking for an exceptional Senior Product Manager with a background in science or engineering and quantum computing or HPC experience to help define and grow an important part of Riverlane’s software product portfolio. This is an early-stage, fast-moving area of our product roadmap: you’ll help shape its direction as much as run what already exists. You’ll sit right at the heart of this product area, working closely with users, partners and cross-functional teams to deeply understand real-world challenges and translate them into a compelling product direction. You’ll use a blend of user insight, product data and market context to cut through complexity and focus on what matters most. You’ll own and evolve the strategy and roadmap, bringing together engineering, research, business development and marketing around a shared vision, striking the balance between bold, long-term ambition and what’s realistically achievable today. This role sits close to the centre of Riverlane, working daily with colleagues across Engineering, Science and the PMO. We ask for three days a week in our Cambridge office to make that collaboration easy. This role involves quarterly travel, less than 10% of your time, to conferences such as IEEE and to visit customers. **What you will do** - Own the strategy and roadmap for your product area, balancing user needs, stakeholder input and Riverlane’s strategic direction - Engage with customers, partners and internal teams to build a complete picture of market needs and the competitive landscape - Use product usage data, market insight and competitive analysis to prioritise features and drive adoption - Align stakeholders across the C-suite, research, engineering, business development and marketing, and identify new market opportunities for Riverlane - Support go-to-market execution and launch readiness with Marketing and Business Development, including external collateral and documentation - Monitor delivery progress and adapt plans as new challenges or opportunities emerge **What we need** - A background in engineering or science (degree or equivalent experience) - 4+ years in B2B product management - Experience in a HPC or quantum computing, translating complex technical trade-offs into product decisions - High emotional intelligence, with strong active listening and critical thinking skills - A collaborative, cross-functional team player who can influence without authority and build trust across teams - Ease with going technically deep, both internally and externally, to understand product capabilities and limitations - Someone who thrives in a fast-moving, ambiguous and rapidly evolving environment - Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills, with the ability to tailor your style to different audiences - A proactive mindset: you spot opportunities for improvement and act on them independently - Willingness to travel occasionally (roughly quarterly, under 10% of your time) for conferences and customer visits **Even better if you have…** - You have experience with both hardware and software product management - You have worked in a startup environment **What can you expect from us** - A comprehensive benefits package that includes an annual bonus plan, private medical insurance, life insurance, and a contributory pension scheme - Equity, so that our team can share in the long-term success of Riverlane - 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave - A diverse work environment that brings together experts in many fields (including software and hardware development, quantum information theory, physics and maths) and over 20 different nationalities - A learning environment that encourages individual, team and company growth and development, including a regular programme of learning events and training and conference budgets **How to apply** Please upload a CV and covering letter by clicking 'Apply'.
