Job description
At Voxie, we believe conversation is the future. We've created the only SMS platform purpose-built for franchises, helping national brands drive local results across 15,000+ locations. Our AI-enhanced texting solution transforms how multi-unit businesses engage customers, drive sales, and stay compliant all with a few clicks. ## **Role Overview** The Senior Software Engineer builds and owns the integrations that connect Voxie's conversational platform to the systems our customers run their businesses on: CRMs, POS platforms, marketing tools, and messaging providers. This is a backend-focused role for an engineer who can take a rough integration requirement, ask the right questions, and ship a system that holds up at high message volume. You will scope work directly with our sales engineers and solutions engineers, with third-party platform teams, and at times with a customer's own technical staff. Strong communication matters here as much as strong code. ## **What You'll Be Doing** **Integration Engineering** - Design, build, and maintain integrations with third-party platforms using REST APIs, webhooks, SFTP, and batch data pipelines. - Turn ambiguous requirements into working systems: gather what you need from sales engineers, solutions engineers, and partner platform teams, then build it. - Work directly with third-party providers and customers' engineering teams to scope, validate, and troubleshoot integrations. - Handle high-throughput messaging workloads with careful attention to rate limits, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery. **Software Development & Architecture** - Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, testable, scalable backend systems in PHP and TypeScript. - Extend our distributed systems architecture for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. - Use AI tools to accelerate delivery and automate processes end to end, so your time goes to high-value orchestration and reliability work. - Write code that both humans and AI agents can understand, modify, and extend. **Cloud & Infrastructure** - Build serverless and distributed solutions on AWS (Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS). - Design systems for security, resilience, and operational efficiency. - Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation. **Collaboration & Process** - Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to scoping and design discussions. - Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver integrations that close deals and keep customers. - Provide mentorship and code reviews that raise the team's engineering standard. **Quality & Testing** - Build and maintain automated test suites with PHPUnit, Jest, and GitHub Actions. - Hold the line on testing, code review, and monitoring. ## **What We're Looking For** **Must Haves** - 5+ years of professional backend development experience with PHP (Laravel), TypeScript, or similar. - Proven experience building and maintaining third-party integrations: REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, SFTP, and batch data exchange. - Experience with high-throughput or high-volume messaging systems. - Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, and database design. - Working knowledge of AWS, particularly Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, and SNS. - Experience with automated test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines. - Practical use of AI coding tools to ship faster, with the judgment to know where they help and where they don't. - Strong communication skills: comfortable gathering requirements from non-engineers and speaking directly with customer technical teams. - Our primary language is English, but we speak Portuguese, Spanish, Ukrainian, and French, so far! **Preferred** - Experience at, or integrating deeply with, CPaaS platforms such as Twilio, Sinch, Vonage, or Bandwidth. - Background in telecom or SMS infrastructure (10DLC, carrier compliance, deliverability). - Cybersecurity experience. - Serverless architecture experience. - Enough frontend fluency (Vue.js, Tailwind) to build and maintain internal integration tooling and dashboards without waiting on another team.
