Senior Software Engineer - R37

Job description

**This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - R37 based in the United States.** Join an innovative engineering team focused on transforming healthcare through artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, and modern software development. In this role, you will lead the development of secure, scalable, and highly available production systems using AI coding agents as your primary implementation tools. You will orchestrate agent-driven workflows, shape development environments, and establish engineering standards that ensure quality, security, and reliability. Working across databases, services, APIs, and user-facing applications, you will help deliver advanced AI solutions that address complex healthcare challenges. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to integrate AI platforms and conversational technologies into real-world workflows. This position offers significant technical ownership, the opportunity to mentor other engineers, and the ability to influence architecture and engineering practices. You will help bring innovative solutions from concept to production, making a measurable impact on healthcare operations at enterprise scale. ### Accountabilities - Lead the development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of secure, scalable, and highly available production software across database, service, and application layers, using AI coding agents as the primary means of implementation. - Break down complex engineering initiatives into well-defined tasks for multiple AI agents and parallel development workflows, establishing clear context, constraints, acceptance criteria, and verification plans. - Design, maintain, and continuously improve the agentic development environment, including project context files, reusable prompts, custom commands, hooks, Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integrations, and CI/CD safeguards. - Establish quality standards for AI-generated code through automated testing, code reviews, security assessments, performance validation, and compliance with HIPAA and applicable data-handling requirements. - Lead integrations with third-party AI platforms, large language model (LLM) APIs, and AI-powered interactive voice response (IVR) or conversational voice solutions. - Partner with product management, software architects, and engineering teams to design and deliver reliable, intuitive, and scalable products aligned with business and user needs. - Improve engineering practices across automation, auditability, infrastructure and policy as code, automated testing, data modeling, API development, query optimization, concurrency control, and cloud-native delivery. - Mentor junior engineers in prompt engineering, context engineering, software architecture, and the critical evaluation of AI-generated code. - Act as a technical subject-matter expert, collaborating with diverse technical and business stakeholders to solve complex problems and communicate effective solutions. ## Requirements - 7–10 years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on production experience with AI-assisted or agentic development, supported by a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - Expert-level proficiency in delivering production software using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable tools, including multi-agent orchestration and parallel workflows. - Advanced prompting and context-engineering skills, with the ability to build reliable development workflows around model capabilities, limitations, and failure modes, and to validate AI-generated code against tests and source materials. - Experience configuring and customizing agent development tools, including MCP servers, custom commands, hooks, rules, project context files, and CI integrations. - Strong code-reading, debugging, and architecture-review skills across the full stack, including object-oriented programming with C#, Java, or TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular. - Demonstrated experience with APIs, web service standards, relational and non-relational databases, data modeling, distributed systems, message-driven architectures, automated testing, version control, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines. - Solid understanding of cloud architecture, secure software development, infrastructure automation, and the delivery of reliable, maintainable, and performant applications. - Experience handling confidential or regulated information and applying appropriate security, privacy, and data-protection practices. - Excellent technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. - Proven ability to manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and mentor engineers while maintaining high engineering standards. ## Benefits - **Competitive annual base salary:** $101,100–$206,802.61, depending on location, experience, technical skills, education, and other job-related factors. - **Annual performance bonus:** Eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan with a target of 10% of base salary. - **Remote work flexibility:** Remote opportunities within the United States, with select location options. - **Healthcare-focused innovation:** The opportunity to develop and deploy advanced AI solutions that address meaningful challenges in healthcare operations. - **Technical ownership and impact:** The chance to shape engineering standards, influence architecture, and deliver production solutions at enterprise scale. - **Professional development:** Opportunities for continuous learning, collaboration, technical growth, and career advancement. - **Collaborative work environment:** Work alongside experienced professionals across engineering, product management, architecture, and business teams. - **Meaningful contributions:** Help improve healthcare workflows and support better operational outcomes for healthcare organizations and the communities they serve. - **Inclusive workplace:** A commitment to equal employment opportunities and a professional environment that values diverse perspectives, collaboration, and innovation. - **Competitive benefits package:** Access to a broader employee benefits offering.
