Learn more about our Vision, purpose, values - AngloGold Ashanti POSITION Senior Specialist, Metallurgy DEPARTMENT CTO Metallurgy, Africa Business Unit LEVEL DL LOCATION Johannesburg-South Africa EMPLOYMENT STATUS Permanent OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE As a Senior Specialist you will provide Metallurgical technical services, supporting the Director Metallurgy with cross regional support where Subject Matter Expert skills are needed. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Technical Accountabilities Modelling behaviour that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required. Provide Technical Services in support of the Manager Metallurgy. SME support across BU's. This includes: Provide expert advice and input to the Business Units and other functions. Provide technical support into the Africa Region Growth Projects. Provide expert input into FAP opportunity development and execution. Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, OEM's, research institutions, etc. Contributing productively as a member of the CTO Technical team. People Accountabilities Ensure all internal and external people are treated in accordance with AGA's company values. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Education & Qualification A degree qualification in Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a relevant related discipline Experience At least 8 years relevant experience in the mining industry Knowledge & Skills Ability to take a 3 year business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the Company’s strategic priorities Sound practical understanding of the entire mining value chain including geology, mining, geotechnical, metallurgy, engineering, tailings and projects Well-developed industry networks Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking Demonstrated capability in organising work, setting priorities and exercising sound independent judgement Strong ability to lead and work effectively with people, including leading high performing professional teams High energy and level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals for self and team Preparedness to take a well-reasoned stand on matters of importance Preparedness to undertake extensive business travel Strong background in production and management - desirable Strong track record in business improvement and change management- desirable AngloGold Ashanti Limited Reg No: 1944/017354/06 AngloGold Ashanti is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from qualified individuals regardless of gender, race, religion, nationality, or disability.
