Senior Strategic Finance Analyst

Job description

## **About Alma** At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well‑balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place - serving merchants and consumers. Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience - without encouraging bad debt. As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we've empowered over +25,000 merchants and 10 million consumers. With 400+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started! ## **About the team** Strategic Finance is part of Alma's Finance team and reports to the CFO. Our job is to understand Alma's economics better than anyone: we own the top line, the unit economics and the Contribution Margin, and we turn that knowledge into decisions on pricing, partnerships, markets and products. We are organising the team so that each person owns a piece of Alma's P&L from start to finish: its business plan, its recurring analysis, its key finance processes, its business partners and its Board materials. Depending on the scope, that piece can be payments and partnerships, our existing merchant base, or new business and growth, each with one or more European markets attached. ## **About the job** - **Own your piece of the P&L.** Build and maintain its business plan, follow its performance month after month, and explain what moves the numbers and why, all the way up to the Board. - **Run the key finance processes of your scope.** Depending on the scope: pricing, merchant performance reviews, cost and margin analysis, country reviews. You are accountable for their quality, and for making them better at every cycle. - **Be a real partner to the business.** Work day to day with the commercial, product and operations teams, step back from the numbers, and bring a clear recommendation whenever a decision is on the table. - **Rebuild how finance works with AI.** Prototype AI-assisted workflows, industrialise the ones that work, and free up the team's time for analysis and influence. Raising the bar on *how* we work matters as much as *what* we deliver. ## **You will work with** Google Sheets · Excel · SQL (largely AI-assisted) · Notion · Slack · AI assistants and LLMs ## **About you** **To succeed in this job** - Have 6 to 7 years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, transaction services, consulting or a similar analytical role, ideally including time in a fast-growing company. - Model with ease and think in unit economics: you can build a business plan from raw data and spot when a number doesn't make sense. Querying is largely AI-assisted at Alma, so data judgement matters more than deep SQL. - Have a strong appetite for AI and learn fast. Ideally, you have already built AI-assisted workflows and made them stick. - Take ownership and bring business sense: you make a scope your own, you know when to step back, and you can influence people who don't report to you. You work comfortably in English and have enough French for day-to-day exchanges with colleagues (native French is not required). **And it will be nice if you also** - Hold a Master's degree in Finance, Business or Engineering, or equivalent. - Have exposure to fintech, payments or BNPL. - Speak a third language beyond French and English, a real plus given our European footprint. *Don't meet every single requirement? At Alma, we believe great hires come from diverse paths. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply. We value potential, curiosity and the ability to grow as much as experience.* ## **What's in it for you** If you join, you will be able to grow and impact on: - **Ownership and visibility.** A piece of Alma's P&L that is truly yours, with direct exposure. - **AI at the core of the job.** The chance to redesign how a finance team works, building the workflows rather than just using them. - **A team in the making.** Strategic Finance is being restructured now: you will help shape how it works, in a Next40 scale-up growing across Europe, with room to take on broader responsibilities. ## **Compensation & Benefits** - Competitive salary based on 12 months - Profit-sharing and employee savings plan - Health insurance: 100% covered by Alma including family package - Disability insurance: 100% covered by Alma - Sport: partnerships with Gymlib and Classpass, or €30/month reimbursement for your sports activities - Maternity/paternity leave: salary maintained at 100% during leave with no seniority requirement. Return to work at 4/5 schedule paid at 100% for 8 weeks. - Sustainable Mobility Package (FMD): €544.80/year (excluding full-remote contracts) - Meal vouchers: €10/day, 50% covered by Alma - Mental health: free access to MindDay platform - Paid time off: 25 days/year (+ additional paid leave granted for employees on executive contracts) - Access to our Learning & Development Platform - 2 weeks of full remote possible per year in summer ## **Interview Process** - Video call with a Talent Acquisition team member to understand your path, motivation & present you the role. - Video call with your future manager to deep dive the role, the team, your profile and answer all your questions. - Case study presentation with 2 - 3 team members (ideally in house) to assess your practical knowledge. - 1 or 2 additional interviews customized to the role's level to further assess your skills and team fit. ## **Diversity & Inclusion** *At Alma, we believe that diversity fuels innovation and makes our community stronger. We are committed to building a workplace where every person feels seen, respected, and empowered to do their best work whatever their gender, background, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability or lived experience. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applicants from all walks of life, and all employment decisions are made based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.*
