Shift Fitter

Job description

Salary £1,138.88 per week We need you!! If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for! You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around the London area, transporting our fantastic customers across London. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are! You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses, part of the near 1500 we operate across London. Our fleet consist of a mix of modern single and double deck vehicles including some new electric buses. Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And it’s not all garage-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at! Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer: Great benefits including a good competitive salary, company pension scheme, free financial education and affordable loans, and finally a range of money-saving opportunities including discounts on holidays and retail, cinema outings, dental insurance, vehicle breakdown cover and hotels and attractions. · Free travel for you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit) and outside London there is free travel for you and a companion on Stagecoach buses. UK-wide opportunities, career development and secondment opportunities to work elsewhere in our UK business. An employee assistance programme to support health and wellbeing through a confidential service available 24 hours a day, which provides specialist guidance and assistance on a range of personal and work-related issues, from dealing with stress and anxiety to managing financial, marital or legal issues. A great working environment with loads of opportunity to make new friends from a bunch of great colleagues and employee networks building inclusive environments for women, veterans, carers, multicultural and LGBTQ+ colleagues. We are proud to advocate and collaborate with our corporate charity, as well as a number of community engagement projects – in addition to proudly promoting an array of health, wellbeing and family initiatives. You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have worked in a engineering technician field – truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses! It would be desirable for you to have a Level 3 engineering qualification in heavy vehicles and a PCV Licence So, if you fancy working in a great engineering team to make sure Susie gets to her job interview, Abdul gets to the hospital to pick up his wife, and Tom gets home from his night out okay, then please click the Apply Now button. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, or age.
