Shift Mechanic

Job description

Salary Competitive Salary Would you love to be part of a professional Engineering Team that maintains and repairs one of the most modern fleets in the UK? How about doing It in one of the most scenic places in the UK? If that sounds like something you want to be involved in, we'd love to have you on board-and we'll give you all the training and development you need to get to where you want to go! Stagecoach Highlands operates 150 vehicles over 6 sites and our Portree team are looking for people from a background in vehicle mechanical engineering to be part of our growing team. You may be in a truck/HGV, rail, light commercial or automotive setting at the moment, but fancy a change of vehicle to enhance your skill-set. Likewise, if you've got PCV experience, you'll still find new opportunities to learn given the variety of modernity of our fleet. Our Portree depot operates a small range of vehicles from Merc Sprinters up to Volvo B8 Evoras and Volvo coaches for our CityLink operation and we invest millions in new buses so you'll have some state of the art machines to work on! You've probably seen some of our vehicles driving around the isle of Skye, transporting our fantastic customers across the island and beyond every year. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out - and as part of our Engineering Team you'll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It's a really important role within our Depot, so we'll make sure you're as looked after as our vehicles are! Don't worry if you've not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) - we'll train you on everything you need to know, and you'll be supported by a great team of fellow Mechanics, Electricians, Technicians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And interestingly it's not all depot-based work - you could well find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won't always be the same four walls you're looking at. Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there's plenty more we can offer. Job Security - we've been going for a long time and plan to continue that for years to come. Safe Environment - we provide boots, overalls and specialist equipment so no need to worry about being safe and protected, or having the right kit for the job. Free Travel - for you and your companion on our buses. That means on your days off you can be off shopping for free without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in petrol or train fares! Great Income & Benefits - Competitive salary, plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you've hung up the spanner or multimeter! Gym Membership – All of our staff across Highlands are eligible to sign up to Highlife Highlands who offer a range of Gyms, Swimming pools and more to keep you fit and healthy. Promotions - if you're happy sticking as a Mechanic then that's absolutely fine by us....but if you do want to progress we'll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. The vast majority of our Engineering Managers and Directors are home grown talent - so that could very well be you in the not too distant future. So, if you have an engineering background with a vehicular slant (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm - if it moves, it's good experience for working on our buses) and have a passion for great work with a great team, then we can't wait to receive your application! Stagecoach workplace culture is one where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences our people bring to the business are celebrated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of background, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation or age.
