Social Worker - Looked After Children

Liquid Personnel is looking for experienced Social Workers to join our client’s Looked After Children Service in Tameside. The team works with care experienced young people up to the age of 18, supporting them until they transfer to the Leaving Care Service.

You will play a key role in driving forward care and permanence plans to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people. This includes ensuring stability, promoting positive relationships, and preparing young people for independence.

What will your responsibilities be?

In this role, you will:

• Manage a caseload of children who are in the care of the local authority.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
• Ensure children’s placements (foster care, residential care, kinship care) are safe, stable, and supportive.
• Promote the child’s health, education, and emotional wellbeing, ensuring access to appropriate services.
• Maintain regular contact with children through statutory visits and direct work.
• Prepare and present reports for Looked After Child Reviews.
• Work closely with birth families, carers, schools, health professionals, and other agencies.
• Support children through transitions, including reunification with family, adoption, or leaving care.
• Advocate for the child’s voice to be heard in all aspects of planning and decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Social Work England registration
• Eligible to work in the UK
• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Post-qualified experience
• Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
