Software Engineer (December 2026 Grads)

Job description

At DraftKings, AI is becoming an integral part of both our present and future, powering how work gets done today, guiding smarter decisions, and sparking bold ideas. It’s transforming how we enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and unlock new possibilities. Our teams are energized by innovation and readily embrace emerging technology. We’re not waiting for the future to arrive. We’re shaping it, one bold step at a time. To those who see AI as a driver of progress, come build the future together. The Crown Is Yours As a Software Engineer on the AI Platform team, you'll design and build the backend systems, integrations, and automation that power intelligent, AI-driven experiences across the organization. You'll own services end to end — from rapid iteration to long-term reliability — while helping bring modern AI capabilities like retrieval, agents, and LLM tooling into production. This is a highly collaborative, engineering-first role: you'll work across teams to turn AI capabilities into scalable, well-instrumented systems, and you'll build the enterprise knowledge infrastructure (similarity search, vector databases, retrieval pipelines) that these systems depend on. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals, a solid grasp of modern AI system patterns, and clear technical communication. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain backend systems, APIs, and automation workflows that power AI-driven applications on a high-volume platform. Develop custom integrations and connectors between internal services and external APIs. Build and operate enterprise knowledge systems — similarity search, vector databases, and retrieval pipelines — that power RAG and agent-based applications. Improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of automation and workflow systems. Implement observability, logging, alerting, and business metrics to measure system behavior and continuously improve it. Contribute to platform tooling using both full-code solutions and workflow automation platforms such as n8n. Deliver clean, testable, production-ready code, with clear documentation and operational guides. Communicate technical concepts effectively to both engineering and non-engineering audiences. What You’ll Bring 2+ years of professional software engineering experience. Proficiency in one or more of Python, TypeScript, or C#. Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade services, integrations, or automation systems. Solid understanding of modern AI system fundamentals (RAG, agents, LLM tools). Practical knowledge of vector databases, similarity search, and retrieval optimization. Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture. Strong focus on testing, observability, and performance for backend systems. Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation tools (such as n8n), or a willingness to learn them. Ability to thrive in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment, balancing rapid iteration with long-term maintainability. Ability to work effectively with both engineers and non-engineers. #LI-AN1 Join Our Team We’re a publicly traded (NASDAQ: DKNG) technology company headquartered in Boston.
