Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer III based in the United States.** Join a collaborative, product-focused engineering team building innovative software that helps landscaping and arboriculture businesses operate more efficiently and grow sustainably. As a Software Engineer III, you will contribute to the development of a critical estimating platform that enables customers to create accurate, competitive, and profitable bids. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to transform customer challenges into reliable, high-impact solutions. From system design and implementation to deployment and production support, you will take ownership of the full software development lifecycle. The team embraces continuous delivery, practical engineering principles, AI-assisted development, and a strong commitment to performance and reliability. This is an opportunity to make meaningful technical contributions, influence engineering practices, and see the direct impact of your work on real-world businesses. ### Accountabilities: - **Build and maintain critical services:** Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable software solutions that support the estimating product and deliver measurable customer value. - **Collaborate across disciplines:** Partner closely with product managers and designers to identify customer needs, define technical approaches, and deliver effective product improvements. - **Own systems end to end:** Take responsibility for architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and ongoing operational performance. - **Improve reliability and performance:** Identify bottlenecks, anticipate potential failure scenarios, implement safeguards, and continuously improve system availability and recovery. - **Contribute to technical excellence:** Participate in thoughtful code reviews, produce clear technical documentation, and help establish maintainable, effective engineering practices. - **Leverage AI-assisted development:** Use coding assistants and agentic AI workflows to improve development efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and support higher-quality delivery. - **Support continuous delivery:** Deliver incremental, low-risk changes, incorporate feedback quickly, and use production insights to guide ongoing improvements. - **Strengthen team collaboration:** Share knowledge, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, contribute to design discussions, and help teammates grow through constructive feedback. - **Drive accountability and customer outcomes:** Measure success through the reliability, usability, and business impact of delivered solutions rather than development output alone. ## Requirements: - **Professional experience:** Approximately four or more years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated technical ownership and meaningful contributions to production systems. - **Backend development:** Hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with C# and .NET, or closely related technologies with transferable expertise. - **Frontend development:** Practical experience with Angular, TypeScript, or a comparable modern frontend framework, including the ability to contribute across the application stack. - **Cloud and database expertise:** Familiarity with modern cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure, and relational databases such as Azure SQL Server. - **System design and architecture:** Ability to reason about scalability, latency, consistency, reliability, and architectural trade-offs, and to document technical decisions that align the team. - **Operational ownership:** Experience monitoring production systems, using observability tools, investigating incidents, participating in on-call responsibilities, and implementing improvements based on operational findings. - **AI-forward engineering practices:** Regular use of AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows, with a practical understanding of their strengths, limitations, and appropriate safeguards. - **Communication and collaboration:** Strong written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, openness to feedback, and the ability to navigate technical disagreements constructively. - **Problem-solving and curiosity:** A proactive approach to understanding complex systems, investigating customer challenges, simplifying solutions, and continuously improving engineering practices. - **Ownership and accountability:** Demonstrated initiative, transparency in communicating trade-offs, and a commitment to delivering measurable outcomes. - **Work authorization:** Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada without requiring employer-sponsored work authorization. This position is listed for candidates based in the United States. - **Additional advantages:** Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, AI-enabled product features, engineering workflow automation, and AI evaluation or guardrails is highly desirable. ## Benefits: - **Competitive compensation:** Annual base salary of **$135,000–$160,000 USD** for US-based candidates. - **Remote flexibility:** Work remotely while collaborating with a distributed, product-focused engineering team. - **Comprehensive healthcare:** Multiple medical, dental, and vision insurance plan options, with access to Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), disability insurance, life insurance, and additional coverage options. - **Retirement savings:** 401(k) matching to support long-term financial planning. - **Flexible paid time off:** Unlimited paid time off, paid company holidays, and a company-wide winter break from December 24 through January 1. - **Career development:** A clearly defined engineering career path from Software Engineer III to more senior levels, supported by transparent promotion expectations and development conversations. - **Learning and professional growth:** Support for relevant tools, courses, learning resources, and opportunities to strengthen technical expertise. - **Meaningful technical impact:** The opportunity to own important services, influence engineering practices, and contribute directly to software used by landscaping and arboriculture professionals. - **Collaborative culture:** A supportive environment that values teamwork, accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and shared success. - **Modern engineering tools:** Opportunities to work with technologies including C#/.NET, Angular, TypeScript, Azure, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Cloudflare, LaunchDarkly, and Datadog, alongside AI-assisted development tools.
