We’re looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn’t a place for complacency, it’s where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards. As a **Software Engineer**, you’ll build and own backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood’s next-generation crypto, web3, and wallet offerings. You’ll develop innovative solutions to deliver a best-in-class trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets—including perpetual futures—to customers worldwide, while solving complex scalability and correctness challenges in an environment where the systems you build move real customer assets continuously around the clock. The **Robinhood Wallet** team’s mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain. The team builds non-custodial consumer products, self-custody experiences, and seamless cross-chain trading capabilities. The **Tokenization** team’s mission is to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain. Equity markets have been closed nights and weekends for a century; the team builds the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure and on-chain systems—issuance, custody, and settlement—to change that. The **Robinhood Chain** team designs and scales the underlying decentralized infrastructure across Robinhood. The team continuously improves Robinhood Chain to provide a best-in-class decentralized platform for trading real-world assets, builds specialized smart contracts, and provides infrastructure services for other Robinhood teams that rely on DeFi. These roles are based in either our **Toronto, Canada** office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams. ### **What you’ll do** - Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services and infrastructure across Robinhood Wallet, Tokenization, and Web3 platform systems, with correctness and auditability as hard requirements. - Build the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows. - Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards. - Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction. - Collaborate closely with product, compliance, client, platform teams, and external partners to deliver impactful technical solutions. ### **What you bring** - 2+ years of experience in software development. - Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with a solid grasp of cloud-native architectures. - Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals. - Care for correctness-critical systems—idempotency, reconciliation, and reasoning carefully about failure modes when money is at stake. - Strong ownership mindset, with a track record of delivering high-quality projects end to end in cross-functional environments and raising team-wide technical standards. - Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders. - Interest in blockchain fundamentals—EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement—or a strong appetite to go deep quickly. ### **What we offer** - Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career - Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership - Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs - Access to the best AI tools on the market and continuous AI skill-building for every employee, technical or not - Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible employer-paid benefits spending account expenses beyond traditional benefits such as wellness, childcare, learning, and more. - Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, and more! - Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces. - Monthly commuter stipend to help offset in-office commuting costs Our team is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming interview experience for all candidates.
