Solutions Architect

Job description

**About Lumafield:** Lumafield was founded in 2019 to upgrade manufacturing. We are engineers with deep experience across the product development cycle, from initial ideas to shipping hardware, across industries and specializations, who became frustrated by the cost and complexity of modern manufacturing. So we decided to upgrade it. Engineers make million-dollar decisions every day, and they need tools that give them the greatest possible insight into their products. By offering unprecedented visibility into products, as well as AI-driven tools that highlight problems and generate quantitative data, Lumafield promises to revolutionize the way complex products are created, manufactured, and used across industries. We started with industrial CT scanning, which for us was the most valuable but underutilized tool in the manufacturing toolbox, enabling us to rapidly inspect essential components non-destructively. We rebuilt the whole system, from X-ray capture, to computer vision analysis, to web-based collaboration, to the entire business model, making the most advanced manufacturing tech more accessible to every industry. Our company, like our platform, is designed for upgrades. We’re building for greater intelligence, autonomy, and speed. For deeper vision, operational excellence, and powerful insights. And then we'll upgrade it all again. Lumafield is headquartered in San Francisco, CA. and has an office in Cambridge, MA. **About the role:** Lumafield is looking for a technically sharp, customer-obsessed Solutions Architect to partner with our sales team and help manufacturers unlock value with cutting edge industrial CT. You’ll be the technical lead in our sales cycles: digging into customers’ parts and inspection challenges, designing solutions that address tangible business problems and recommending the right combination of Neptune, Triton, and Voyager to solve their problems. You’ll work across the pre-sale and post-sale process, with impact across the entire GTM organization. This is a highly collaborative role at the intersection of engineering and GTM. You’ll work closely with Account Executives to win deals, with Customer Success to set up deployments for success, and with Product and Engineering to bring the voice of the field back into what we build. You’ll speak credibly with quality engineers about measurement and defects, and with plant managers and executives about throughput, cost, and ROI. ### What you'll do: - Serve as the technical lead alongside Account Executives across the sales cycle - Run technical discovery with prospects to understand their parts, inspection workflows, quality challenges, and success criteria. - Design scan evaluations and proof-of-concepts on customer parts, and turn results into clear, decision-ready findings. - Assist in the creation of the business case, including ROI models and executive-ready reports that tie Lumafield’s capabilities to measurable customer outcomes. - Recommend the right solution across Neptune, Triton, and Voyager based on part geometry, materials, throughput needs, and deployment environment. - Deliver demos and technical presentations to audiences ranging from quality engineers to plant managers and executives. - Scope solution requirements (measurements, integrations, facility, IT/security) and hand off cleanly to Customer Success. - Feed structured field insights back to Product and Engineering on capability gaps, competitive losses, and emerging use cases. - Create reusable technical collateral, such as application notes, case studies, and demo datasets, that helps the sales team scale. ### About you: - Engineering background with hands-on exposure to quality, inspection, or product development. - 3-5 years in a customer-facing technical role, such as solutions architect, sales engineer, or applications engineer. - Can explain complex technology simply and credibly to both engineers and executives. - Comfortable owning the technical win in complex, multi-stakeholder B2B sales cycles. - Commercially minded; you can turn technical results into a defensible ROI story. - Organized enough to run multiple evaluations in parallel without dropping details. - Decisive with incomplete information, and known for following through. - Willing to travel to customer sites 30% of the time ### Bonus: - Experience with industrial CT, metrology, or NDT (X-ray, ultrasonic, CMM). - Domain knowledge in automotive, aerospace, electronics, batteries, medical devices, or consumer products. - Experience selling capital equipment combined with software or SaaS. - Background in GD&T, failure analysis, or production quality systems (SPC, PPAP, FAI). - Scripting or data skills (Python, SQL) for building custom analyses or tooling. - Experience supporting production-line or international deployments.
