Job Title: Sr AMO Physicist Job Type: Full-time Job Location: Harwell, UK Reports to: Technical Lead / Quantum Systems Manager **Summary:** QuEra Computing UK Limited is looking for an experienced AMO Physicist for its UK Quantum Computing operations. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics.The individual in this role will contribute to the advancement of neutral-atom based quantum computing technologies. They will be involved in the design, implementation, and characterization of neutral-atom quantum computing systems, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to push the boundaries of quantum computing using neutral-atom platforms. **Responsibilities:** - Assist in the construction of a next generation neutral atom quantum computer at Quera UK’s site on the Harwell Science and Innovation campus - Collaborate with engineering teams to verify and validate modules and subsystems - Run, calibrate, test and improve the operation of the QPU - Investigate sources of noise and decoherence and propose mitigation strategies - Analyze experimental data and draw meaningful conclusions to guide system improvements. - Stay current with the latest advancements in AMO physics and quantum computing. - Engage in collaborations with academic and industry partners **Qualifications:** - A Ph.D. in experimental AMO physics or related field, with hands-on experience in building or operating a neutral atom or a trapped ion system, or another quantum hardware platform or practical experience with actual gate-based quantum computers is a major asset. - Success in research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or scientific talks and other contributions. - Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or similar. - Experience in mentoring or training scientists or engineers. - Free to travel within Europe and the US where necessary **Benefits:** In addition to your base compensation, we offer a generous rewards program.
