The role… Develop, select, document, and improve processes, equipment, and factory layouts that provide safe operation and effective production by utilizing technical and analytical skills and collaborating with the Sales and Manufacturing departments and others. Lead major improvement and new equipment efforts. How you’ll make an impact… • Ensure the success of the business by being actively involved in and supportive of all principles of Weidmann’s QST Process, EMS and QMS systems. • Support continuous process improvement within the organization by effectively developing and maintaining appropriate technologies. • Play a role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of efficient shutdowns by minimizing planned and unplanned downtime. • Responsible to create/close work orders to support production equipment and facility repairs/upgrades. • Required to enter purchase request for services and products to support production equipment and facility repairs/upgrades. • Develop Capital & Expense related projects to upgrade, maintain, or replace production equipment. • Manage all facets of Capital & Expense projects to upgrade, maintain, or replace production equipment. • Evaluate equipment condition and recommend the rebuild or replacement of equipment. Also, recommend necessary spare parts to reduce cost of unscheduled downtime. • Develop equipment needs and project estimates for yearly budget planning. • The employee is responsible for contractor management. This includes all necessary paperwork, compliance with current WEIDMANN contractor safety briefing package, and daily sign in/out at designated locations. • Ensure the safety of every employee by evaluating all processes and equipment and taking prompt action when any unsafe situations occur. • Plan and implement production processes by studying customer requirements; identifying, analyzing, and incorporating appropriate technology. • Determine feasibility of projects by identifying and forecasting costs and requirements. • Lead new process and equipment implementation projects using team and project management tools and techniques. • Design, develop, plan, purchase, and maintain facilities, processes, production equipment, and tooling to meet the needs of the business. • Provides support and input for continual improvement projects, preventive and corrective actions. • Develop project scope of work so cost estimates can be attained to aid in the feasibility of proposed projects. • Contract engineering resources or required entities to complete analytic studies. • Ensures that problems, errors and/or defects that surface in regard to products, documentation, procedures or materials are promptly brought to attention for correction. • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications. • Has the responsibility to halt or change a process if it is not achieving planned results. • Provide technical information, product know how, and training to members of the Engineering group, Maintenance Department, Production groups, Customer Service/Sales, employees at other Weidmann sites, and local Management. • Liaison between Production and Customer Service/Sales when technical questions rise or product specifications are unclear. • Work on establishing new customer production requirements and assist with new customer product contract review. • Maintains engineering information by maintaining files as a resource for every day needs. • Know and assure adherence to federal, state, and local legal requirements regarding our manufacturing operations. • Has the responsibility of understanding and carrying out assigned duties in conformance with customer and business requirements. • Actively participate in and contribute to team based improvement activities. • Must have the ability to work alone or within a group of other professionals What do you bring… • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering and 10 years of experience, or related technical degree and 15 years of experience required. • Proficient in Autocad • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. • Proficient in LOTUS, WORD, and other Microsoft Office Products • Knowledge of SAP. • Experienced problem solver with strong mechanical aptitude. • Ability to train others. • Knowledge of Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S What do we offer? • Medical insurance with an accompanying health savings account, vision and dental insurance, PTO. • 401k plan with company match, Company paid basic life and AD&D insurance, STD and LTD. • Employee assistance program • Employee referral program • Additional company programs include: Wellness, clothing allowance, computer loan, and tuition reimbursement We look forward to hearing from you soon!
