### Structural Steel Field Surveyor **Location:** Maryland or Virginia | Field-Based **Job Type:** Direct Hire **Starting Pay:** $30.00/hour — higher pay available based on experience ### Position Overview We’re looking for a **Field Surveyor** with structural steel experience to support projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic. You’ll perform field layout and measurements, verify steel positioning, and work alongside erection crews in active construction environments. ### Key Responsibilities - Perform field measurements and collect accurate construction survey data. - Establish control lines, column locations, and anchor rod positions. - Check elevations, embed alignment, and structural orientation. - Prepare and update as-built drawings. - Provide layout and alignment support during structural steel erection. - Coordinate with other trades to maintain proper plumbness and structural accuracy. - Assist with installation of structural and miscellaneous metals, including stairs and shafts. - Use **Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and Microsoft Office** for field and project work. - Follow site safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. ### Requirements - **3+ years of structural steel erection or field surveying experience.** - Experience with slopes, grades, and layout for structural and miscellaneous metals. - Proficiency with a **total station or similar surveying equipment**. - Working knowledge of **AISC standards** for building alignment and orientation. - Willingness to travel regularly to job sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. - Comfortable working at heights, including aerial lifts and elevated steel floors. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Effective communication and ability to work with onsite crews and other trades. ### Benefits & Work Environment - Company vehicle and gas card provided for travel. - Variety of field projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic. - Ongoing training and support. - Primarily field-based, with occasional office/shop visits for training and meetings.
