The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of student data within a large school district environment. This role provides technical and operational expertise in the management of Student Information Systems (SIS), educational applications, data integrations, and state reporting requirements.
The position serves as a key resource for the flow of student information across multiple systems and applications, working closely with district administrators, school-based staff, technology teams, and application vendors. The System Administrator provides guidance, training, documentation, and technical expertise to ensure student information is maintained accurately and consistently throughout the organization.
This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, extensive knowledge of student information systems, and the ability to manage multiple projects and reporting requirements in a deadline-driven educational environment.
Salary: $75,000-$85,000
What You'll Do:
- • Maintain and validate student information to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data across district systems and educational applications.
• Administer and support Student Information Systems and related applications used for student enrollment, scheduling, attendance, grading, reporting, and other student information functions.
• Generate, analyze, and distribute student data reports to support district, school, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the flow and integration of student information between the SIS and other district systems, applications, and third-party platforms.
• Support New York State Student Information Repository System (SIRS) reporting and associated student data requirements.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities to identify and resolve discrepancies before required reporting submissions.
• Coordinate and manage recurring SIS processes, including school-year rollover, enrollment transitions, scheduling activities, and other annual system processes.
• Develop and maintain procedures for student data entry, validation, maintenance, reporting, and system usage.
• Create comprehensive technical and procedural documentation, including standard operating procedures, workflows, user guides, and training materials.
• Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions for district and school-based staff on student information systems, applications, processes, and data management procedures.
• Provide application support and guidance to end users, assisting staff with navigating SIS and related educational technology platforms.
• Support mass communication and parent notification platforms and their integration with student information systems.
• Coordinate with application vendors and internal technology teams to troubleshoot system, data, and integration issues.
• Assist with application upgrades, system changes, integrations, testing, and implementation activities.
• Produce regular project, system, and operational status reports for management and other stakeholders.
• Manage and coordinate assigned SIS and educational technology projects, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and within established timelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, workflows, reporting, documentation, and operational processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and safeguard student information in accordance with district policies and applicable data privacy requirements.
• Perform other job-related duties and support additional technology initiatives as assigned.
What You Bring:
- • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience administering or supporting Student Information Systems and educational technology applications.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise Student Information Systems; experience with Infinite Campus and/or PowerSchool eSchoolPlus is highly desirable.
• Experience with New York State SIRS reporting, student data validation, and associated reporting requirements.
• Experience with Blackboard K–12 or similar mass communication and parent notification platforms.
• Strong understanding of student data management, data integrity, validation, and reporting processes.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with particularly strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and related productivity and collaboration technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve complex data discrepancies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and reporting deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to develop clear technical documentation, procedures, training materials, and reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills with the ability to effectively guide end users through applications and technical processes.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technology staff, administrators, school personnel, and third-party vendors.
• Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Preferred
• Experience with student data integrations between SIS platforms and third-party educational applications.
• Experience managing school-year rollover, scheduling, enrollment, or other major SIS operational processes.
• Previous experience supporting technology within a large school district or similar educational organization.
