Job description
Mariner Valuation Analysts are responsible for the following: Performing financial statement modeling and analysis in connection with private company valuations for M&A transactions, shareholder buyouts, tax, estate planning, and other purposes Providing discounted cash flow, LBO transaction, precedent (M&A) transaction, comparable public company, and related analysis to clients and prospective clients Performing industry and market research Assisting with due diligence for clients and prospective client meetings, including interacting with business owners and C-level executives to obtain, discuss, and clarify information Developing materials for clients, including valuation reports and PowerPoint presentations Assisting in business development activities, including buyer research for prospective sell-side M&A clients, and collaborating with colleagues across the M&A department Providing support for project work as needed Basic Qualifications: Degree in accounting or finance (a focus on financial analysis and modelling will be preferred) A minimum of 2 years of work experience in business valuation, corporate finance, accounting, or commercial banking Strong analytical and technical abilities Attention to detail Solid time and project-management skills Flexibility to handle changing priorities Proficiency at Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Preferred Qualifications Strong knowledge of accounting Strong interpersonal and communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to handle and thrive with increasing independence Cape Town, South Africa-based Seniority Level Senior analyst level Industry Financial Services Employment Type • • Full-time
