Position Description We are seeking an experienced Vice President, Alternatives Accounting Manager – Income & Yield Forecasting (VP, Alts AM ) to join PIMCO's Accounting and Yield Services (PAY) Group. This team is responsible for operating PIMCO's proprietary income and yield forecasting platform (PAY), which provides forward-looking income forecasting, accounting analysis, and decision-support insights across a broad range of investment products and strategies. PAY is used by the Executive Office, Portfolio Managers, Product Strategists, Fund Management, and other senior stakeholders to evaluate expected income, yield, distributions, and related outcomes, helping to inform portfolio positioning, distribution planning, risk assessment, and strategic business decisions. The VP, Alts AM will play a key role in expanding analytical and forecasting capabilities across PIMCO's alternatives platform. In addition to supporting existing forecasting processes, the successful candidate will help develop, refine, and scale forecasting methodologies for increasingly complex alternative investment products and fund structures. This is a highly visible and hands-on role at the intersection of investments, accounting, forecasting, and analytics. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on alternative investment forecasting, providing analyses and insights to Portfolio Managers, Product Strategists, Executive Leadership, Boards, and other senior stakeholders. Success in the role requires a broad understanding of alternative investment strategies and a deep appreciation of how underlying investments, portfolio structures, cash flows, valuations, distributions, and investor outcomes influence forecast assumptions and results. The ideal candidate is willing to roll up their sleeves and actively engage in the work, diving into complex data, investigating anomalies, challenging assumptions, and understanding the underlying drivers behind forecast results. The VP, Alts AM will combine strong technical accounting and alternatives investment expertise with analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment. This role is as much about investigative problem-solving and decision support as it is about forecasting. Location New York, NY, Austin, TX or Newport Beach, CA Responsibilities Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage the oversight and administration of PIMCO's proprietary income and yield forecasting platform (PAY), with a primary focus on alternative investment strategies. Lead the continued expansion of forecasting capabilities across PIMCO's alternatives platform, including the development and enhancement of methodologies for new investment strategies, products, and fund structures. Analyze forecast drivers at the fund, sector, asset class, and security levels to identify risks, opportunities, trends, and implications for investment and business decisions; investigate anomalies and forecast-versus-actual variances to improve forecast accuracy and reliability. Assess the impact of investment activity, portfolio positioning, market events, accounting outcomes, and other business initiatives on future income and yield expectations. Partner with investment professionals, business leaders, and other stakeholders to provide forecasting analyses, insights, and recommendations that inform investment and business decisions. Drive enhancements to forecasting methodologies, data quality, analytical frameworks, business processes, reporting capabilities, and supporting technology platforms. Utilize data analysis tools to extract, validate, and analyze large datasets that support forecasting and decision-making activities; partner closely with technology teams to develop business requirements and enhance forecasting infrastructure. Lead projects related to technology enhancements, process improvements, regulatory changes, and new business integration initiatives. Identify and drive the adoption of technology, AI, data, and automation capabilities to improve efficiency, enhance quality, scale operations, and increase the impact of the function. Provide oversight of third-party service providers and vendor relationships, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to service standards. Minimum 10 years of experience in investment management, fund accounting, financial planning and analysis, consulting, fund administration, audit, or related financial services functions. Demonstrated experience supporting alternative investment products, including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, BDCs, interval funds, or other private market structures. Broad knowledge of alternative investment strategies, structures, asset classes, and investment vehicles, including a strong understanding of fund structures, capital activity, valuation methodologies, income generation, cash flows, and investor reporting considerations. Strong knowledge of fixed income accounting and related accounting concepts, with particular emphasis on asset income and yield-related accounting. Experience supporting investment decision-making, forecasting, income analysis, yield analysis, accounting advisory, or other analytical functions within investment management. Ability to assess complex investment structures and determine how economic, accounting, tax, and cash flow characteristics impact forecasting assumptions and outcomes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience evaluating complex financial data, challenging assumptions, identifying anomalies, assessing data quality, and translating findings into actionable business insights and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to understand complex investment concepts and communicate analyses, insights, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience partnering with investment professionals, portfolio management teams, product teams, executive leadership, or other business stakeholders on highly technical or complex investment-related topics. Experience leveraging technology, AI, data, and automation to improve business outcomes, modernize processes, and enhance efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness. Experience utilizing analytical tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, SQL, database queries, or similar technologies to support analysis, validation, and decision-making. Experience partnering with technology teams to enhance systems, automate processes, or develop new analytical capabilities. Appreciation for the importance of audit, controls, governance, and policy frameworks. Experience providing oversight of vendors, consultants, and outsourced service providers preferred. Exposure to equities, derivatives, leveraged products, and other asset classes preferred. CPA and/or CFA designation preferred. PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
