Vice President, Marketing

Job description

### **About Loyal** Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing longevity drugs for dogs. Our mission is to help dogs live longer, healthier lives. We're pioneering a new category of veterinary prescription drugs that proactively and preventatively target the underlying drivers of aging, delaying the onset of disease and preserving quality of life as dogs age. We've already made significant progress in our mission to develop the first FDA-approved drugs to extend canine lifespan: as of early 2026 we've completed two of three major FDA review sections for our lead program, LOY-002, and are targeting submission of the third and final section later this year. Loyal is a [well-funded startup](https://loyal.com/posts/100m-for-first-longevity-drug) with teams of scientists, veterinarians, engineers, operators, and creatives. You'll help us continue on our path of earning FDA approval for the first lifespan extension medicine for any species, and change what's possible for the dogs we love. ### About the role We’re seeking an experienced Vice President of Marketing to build out our consumer and vet marketing capabilities in preparation for the anticipated launch of our lead drug, LOY-002. This is a unique opportunity to set the strategy for how we will bring the first longevity drug for dogs to market. You will own our marketing and communications plan end to end. This includes how we build an entirely new category of medicine, who we reach, how we reach them, what we say, and how we show up in the world. ### The problem you’d be solving We’re creating a category of medicine that doesn’t yet exist for two diverse audiences; veterinary professionals and consumers. While we’re in the pre-approval phase, this category creation work is essential to ensuring we have a strong foundation of vet professionals who understand our approach to targeting aging directly and trust the rigor and approaches our scientific, clinical, and manufacturing teams are taking. Just as important, this includes driving consumer awareness and understanding around aging as a treatable condition that dog owners should be looking to address directly. Near-term this role is focused on building the category with both audiences. This includes early messaging and positioning work for aging care, honing our key audiences and how best to reach them, and building concrete plans for launch. It also means defining how we measure success in this pre-approval phase. As we get closer to our anticipated launch (dependent on progress with the FDA) this role will evolve into team building and preparation for launch. This will include ensuring we have what we need in place to educate veterinary professionals, drive consumer demand, and continue to grow awareness of Loyal more broadly. ### Company communications Beyond launch preparations, you will also own how Loyal communicates as a company. We have a robust R&D pipeline and are looking for a leader who can set the strategy for what we talk about, when, why, and how. This includes communicating progress across all drugs in our pipeline, promoting key publications and partnerships, and situating Loyal in the center of longevity and senior dog care conversations. ### What we’re looking for This role is for someone who is a builder, can set strategy with an executive team while managing daily marketing tactics, and has strong taste and opinions for how to build a brand that is credible and trustworthy with veterinary professionals yet warm and accessible to consumers. The ideal candidate should have a diverse marketing background across both consumers and professionals (healthcare/animal health a plus), be able to execute (not just direct), have a demonstrated track record of successful launches, and be a strong team leader and builder. You will be reporting to our VP of Commercial and inherit our marketing team of two. ### About you - You've built a marketing function from the ground up. - You've marketed to both consumers and professionals. Healthcare or animal health experience is a plus. - You've taken a product to market and you can talk specifically about what you'd do differently next time. - You have real taste and strong opinions about brand. Particularly how to be credible and rigorous with veterinary professionals while staying warm and accessible to consumers. - You're comfortable setting strategy with an executive team and working the tactics - You've hired and developed marketers - You can operate without a scoreboard while you define key metrics ### **Bonus, not required** - You've marketed in a regulated category - You've built something people talked about without a large paid budget behind it Salary Range: $275,000 - $335,000 ### Loyal benefits - Full-coverage health insurance — medical, dental and vision — for you and your dependents - $1,000 home office equipment stipend - $1,200/year learning budget for books, courses, etc. - $250/month wellness budget for gym, cleaners, spa, food, etc. - All 3-day weekends are turned into 4-day weekends 🎉 - Unlimited vacation and paid holidays - Paw-ternity leave — adopt a dog and get a day off with your new family member 🐶 - Competitive salary - Company equity options grant for new hires Loyal is founded and led by a first-gen female CEO and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate against applicants based on gender, race or color, ethnicity or national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or any other applicable characteristics protected by law. ### Our values **Moonshots, derisked methodically** Bringing the first longevity drug to market is an extremely difficult technical and social pursuit. To achieve this we must take bigger bets than the field has historically made, paired with the technical rigor to de-risk them step by step. We plan on both short and extremely long timescales, and we have the conviction to see our vision through to success or failure. **Opportunity is at the intersection** We lean into combining disciplines, expertise, and perspectives not normally adjacent. We design our organization to facilitate cross-pollination and cross-collaboration. We reject silos. **Expertise without ego** Titles do not determine who has a voice. We push back on each other, ask questions instead of issuing orders, and try to prove ourselves wrong. We are emotionally attached to the outcome, not our personal hypotheses, and welcome being challenged instead of treating it as a threat. **High agency, high humility** Most of what we're doing has never been done before, so we can't rely on established precedents to guide our way. We move forward to generate clarity, build strategies resilient to the fact that we don't know what we don't know, and design small experiments where we can fail safely, without jeopardizing the bigger mission. **Lead with transparency and context** We proactively and consistently share the why behind our strategy - not just the what - because we believe sharing context enables great people to make great decisions. **Empathy and respect for all life** Our patients are not just numbers. We deeply respect the value of every life, large and small and take our ethical responsibility to the families we treat extremely seriously.
