VIP Relationship Manager

Job description

***Please note that we are unable to consider applications from candidates based in France, Italy, or Germany for this role.*** Money is moving onto the internet, and the shift has a name: **Open Money.** This is money that is open, portable, agentic, and owned by you. MetaMask spent the last ten years building it; with 100M+ downloads, users in ~190 countries, and trillions in cumulative transaction volume, it's the most trusted self-custodial financial platform on the internet. Now we're building the operating system for your money: one place to hold, move, grow, and use anything you own. Join a remote-first, global team rebuilding how money works: a problem that touches everyone, every day. **The role** MetaMask is launching an official VIP programme in early 2027. Our pilot showed that high volume traders bring their trading to MetaMask when someone owns the relationship with them. Swaps, Memecoins, RWA and Perps are at the heart of our business, and a small number of traders drive a large share of it. As the China Relationship Manager, you will own MetaMask's relationships with Mandarin speaking high volume traders and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) across our Trade and Money VIP programmes. This is a market where trust and personal introductions decide everything, and established exchanges have strong VIP teams. You will win people over with trust, product access and time spent in person. **What you will own** - Finding, recruiting, onboarding and retaining VIP traders and high-net-worth-individuals across Mainland China/ Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. - Building relationships across Mandarin speaking traders, HNWI and community networks, including industry networks, referrals, events and inbound interest. - Negotiating and agreeing VIP terms with candidates, within MetaMask's programme guidelines. - Acting as each VIP's main point of contact, and bringing in Support, Product, Marketing and leadership when needed. - Hosting and joining VIP gatherings across Greater China and the wider region, working with our Events team. - Turning conversations with VIPs into insight on trading behaviour, competitor offers, market shifts and product gaps, and sharing it with Product. - Adapting VIP materials and communications for a Chinese speaking audience, in line with Legal guidance. - Tracking and reporting on pipeline, volume, fees and retention. **What success looks like** - A growing, active and engaged VIP community across Greater China. - Strong retention and a healthy flow of referrals. - VIP feedback that shapes what Product builds. - Relationships handled in full compliance with our policies. **What you bring** - Experience in VIP, account management or business development in crypto, exchanges, brokerages or fintech. - A credible network among high volume Mandarin speaking traders, HNWIs or communities, or a track record of building one. - Native Mandarin and strong professional English. Cantonese is a plus. - A good understanding of the regional market dynamics and how traders and HNWIs compare offerings. - Comfort working towards volume, fee and deposit targets. - Solid knowledge of on-chain trading and DeFi. - Sound judgement on local regulation, and comfort working with Legal guidance. **Nice to have** - Experience hosting private events or community gatherings in the region. - Japanese or Korean language skills. - A product mindset: you can turn feedback into clear requirements. Don't meet all the requirements? Don't sweat it. We’re passionate about building a diverse team of humans and as such, if you think you've got what it takes for our chaotic-but-fun, remote-friendly, start-up environment—apply anyway, detailing your relevant transferable skills in your cover letter. While we have a pretty good idea of what we need, we're ready for you to challenge our thinking on who needs to be in this role. In the rapidly evolving Web3 space, we believe that everyone is a builder. This expansive paradigm requires a range of backgrounds, talents, skills, and experiences to influence and shape the future. At MetaMask, this diversity fuels our ability to shift control and redefine the realm of possibility. We are committed to ensuring that our technology empowers people and communities through decentralized technologies. We welcome the range of perspectives and differences and celebrate them. We're excited to see how your unique skills as a builder can contribute to our vision, drive innovation, and help us shape a more inclusive Web3. MetaMask is an equal opportunity employer. All employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, religion, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, marital status, family status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. MetaMask is aware of fraudulent recruitment practices and we encourage all applicants to review our best practices to protect yourself, which can be found on our page. MetaMask may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of our recruitment process, such as reviewing applications, screening resumes, or conducting initial candidate assessments. These tools are designed to assist our recruiting team and improve efficiency — they do not replace human judgment. A human recruiter or hiring manager reviews every candidate, and all final hiring decisions are made by people, not AI. It is a requirement of employment in this position that applicants may be required to submit to background and identity verification checks, including but not limited to employment, education, criminal record checks, and other such checks as determined necessary by the company.
