Virtual Medical Receptionist / Patient Coordinator (Optometry)

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Medical Receptionist / Patient Coordinator to support a busy Optometry practice. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in an eye care setting who understands the day-to-day workflow of an optometry office, including patient scheduling, routine eye exams, specialty appointments, optical services, and delivering exceptional patient care.As the first point of contact for patients, you will be responsible for managing a high volume of inbound calls, scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and ensuring every interaction reflects the professionalism and high standards of the practice.Because this is a phone-intensive role, candidates must have excellent English communication skills, clear pronunciation, and little to no noticeable accent. Make outbound calls for appointment confirmations, recalls, follow-ups, and missed appointments. Manage provider schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize scheduling gaps. Update patient demographics, insurance information, and document communications in the EMR. Route messages accurately to providers and office staff. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Experience scheduling routine eye exams, contact lens appointments, and specialty eye care services. Experience verifying vision and medical insurance benefits.
