They embrace change and tackle challenges with enthusiasm. They have an “all-in” disposition towards work, understanding that we are a fast-paced, high-growth organization with evolving priorities. They can excel at both independent tasks and collaborative work, leading with clear and candid communication. They exhibit humble leadership—the ability to drive initiatives forward while remaining excited about continuous learning and development opportunities. They feel strongly about being part of a team that advocates for people to live longer and better lives. **The Role** Hone is looking for a VP of Finance to join our growing team. This role will report to the COO and will build and scale the financial foundation of the business. You’ll be a key strategic partner to the executive team—owning core finance operations while elevating planning, decision support, and financial discipline across the business. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and enjoys both strategic thinking and tactical execution. You’ll be responsible for owning core financial operations while partnering closely with leaders across the company to drive informed decision-making, operational rigor, and sustainable growth. **Primary Responsibilities** Key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) the following: - Lead company-wide FP&A: own forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, scenario modeling, and performance management cadence - Drive executive decision support: translate financial and operational signals into clear, actionable insights (growth efficiency, margin, cohort/unit economics, staffing, etc.) - Direct cash and capital planning: proactively manage runway, working capital, and key levers; support fundraising strategy and investor diligence as needed - Own the board-level financial narrative: build and personally deliver the reporting package and strategic narrative for leadership and the Board of Directors (KPIs, dashboards, variance narratives, and operating metrics) — translating the numbers into a clear, persuasive story that drives decisions, not just an accurate report - Oversee close and accounting partnership: ensure a reliable monthly close process and strong partnership with external accounting/tax/audit firms (and/or internal accounting resources as the org grows) - Build scalable processes and controls: improve policies, internal controls, and finance workflows to support growth (vendor contracts, expense management, approvals, revenue/COGS clarity, etc.) - Own finance systems and tooling roadmap: evaluate and implement systems that enable scale (planning tools, reporting automation, BI integrations, improved data hygiene) - Build and develop the finance function: hire and manage talent over time (or lead/coordinate contractors/outsourced partners initially), establishing high standards and a culture of accountability - Partner cross-functionally with different departments to ensure financial rigor is embedded in day-to-day decisions **Qualifications** In order to qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria: - 10-15 years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful time in high-growth, venture-backed environments - Direct, hands-on experience scaling a finance function through multiple rounds of venture financing (Series B or later) and/or an IPO or public-company-readiness process — you owned the finance workstream through that inflection point, not just worked at a company while it happened - Demonstrated track record presenting financial strategy and results directly to boards of directors, investors, or C-suite decision-makers - Experience operating as a senior finance leader (Head of Finance/VP Finance), with demonstrated ability to own planning and performance management end-to-end - Proven ability to operate at both altitudes: hands-on in the model, the close, and the systems today, while also setting 3-5 year strategic financial vision as the company matures — candidates who have only done one or the other will not be a fit - Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes (forecast/close cadence, controls, reporting, tooling) in resource-constrained environments - Comfortable working hands-on - able to roll up sleeves while also setting direction and influencing executives - Strong communication and executive presence; able to align stakeholders and drive decisions with clarity and tact - Experience partnering with external providers (accounting, tax, payroll, audit) and navigating compliance and risk thoughtfully - Track record of managing ambiguity, prioritizing ruthlessly, and delivering outcomes in a dynamic environment - Experience in subscription, DTC, marketplace, or healthcare services businesses where unit economics and retention matter **Compensation Range** $200,000 – $300,000 (depending on experience, skills, and market factors) **Benefits\*** Hone wants our team to be in the best condition of their lives, so we offer a range of benefits including: - A remote-first work environment - Competitive compensation and equity options - Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage - Short-term disability and basic life coverage - Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) - Lifestyle Spending Accounts (LSAs) - We follow federal holidays and have uncapped time off for exempt employees - Budget for the technology tools you need (laptop, monitor, and/or special software) - A focus on company-sponsored activities to foster engagement (both virtual and in-person) - Waived membership fees for any Hone team members utilizing Hone products \*These benefits are available to full-time, regular employees, and *not* to independent contractors, part-time employees, temporary employees, or interns. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace committed to building a team culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions.
